Namaste, Namaste, Namaste

From design to completion, things often change along the way due to physical limitations, permit requirements, costs, or newfound space requirements. This has undoubtedly been the case in this project.

However, one element that has largely remained is the bamboo room divider. Finally, the day came to make it a reality.

We gathered bamboo from our yard, as well as some from a local landscape supplier.

I sketched out a layout and the core drilling began.

Pole by pole. we laid out the design, while Mark cut them to size.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat and voilà!

Meanwhile, I tried my hand at painting an IdeaPaint wall for our conference room.

Finally, someone will let you write on the walls! But the most accomplished person in the past week is 15 years old. Aidan turned this:

and this…

and much more, into this:

and this…

Needless to say, he is thoroughly enjoying his new tube amp as a result.

I have to end this entry by mentioning that while all this crafty uber-productivity has been unfolding, we’ve been less than productive with the city. For the past two weeks, we’ve been stuck once again in permit hell. First electrical inspection, now sprinkler inspection– both of which are necessary before final.

I could editorialize about this ad nauseum, but it would only make me more annoyed than I already am.

Namaste.
